Joe was a 33 degree Mason; member of the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons and Order of the Eastern Star. He served many years as WM of River Rouge Lodge #55 in River Rouge, Michigan.

Funeral services took place Saturday, December 1, 2018, 11:00 am at First Baptist Church - 7642 Gould Street/Detroit, Michigan ( Entrusted to: Carver Memorial Funeral Home).

A graveside ceremony was entrusted to Christian Memorial Funeral, Camden Alabama on Monday, December 3, 2018, 12:00 noon at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Cemetery in Pine Apple, AL.
