Wilmer Ray Johns

Wilmer Ray Johns was born on September 12, 1968, in Indian Ridge Alabama, to Annie Lee (Burroughs) Johns and Truman Lee Pendleton. He departed this life on January 18, 2023, at his home in Toledo, Ohio.
Wilmer was baptized and received Christ at an early age at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church. He attended schools in both Los Angeles, California where he lived for a short time and Grove Hill, Alabama, where he graduated from Clarke County High School, Class of 1987. His early years were filled with fun times with his brothers in Indian Ridge and the Pendleton family in Whatley. Upon his graduation, he enlisted into the United States Military. After leaving the service, he returned to Indian Ridge (Whatley) Alabama for a short time before moving to Toledo, Ohio, where he lived until he was called home.
He was united in matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Betty Johnson. From their union, a beautiful daughter was born, named Jessica Johns and later a granddaughter, named C’Maya Johns. He cherished every moment with them and loved cooking with his only granddaughter, especially barbequing. He would barbeque often to invite family and friends over for good food, good times and sharing memories. Also, he would often travel back and forth between Alabama and Ohio visiting family and friends.
Wilmer was preceded in death by parents: Annie Johns and Truman (Rosetta) Pendleton; Brothers: Eddie Willie Johns, Jackie Dewayne Johns, Edward Pendleton, Michael Pendleton, Alfred Pendleton, and Sister: Dorothy Mae Pendleton. Brothers-in-law: Raymond McCarthy and Rev. Floyd Dailey.
Wilmer leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Jessica Johns, granddaughter C'Maya Johns, both of Toledo, Ohio. Sisters: Alma Lean McCarthy, Angela (Anthony) Givhan, Effie (Lance) Williams, Alanna Johns of Los Angeles, California, Lois Dailey, Martha L. Hunt, Shann Pendleton of Whatley Alabama. Janice Bills and Thelma Pendleton of Toledo, Ohio. Brothers: Joseph (Janice) Johns of Indian Ridge, Alabama, Rudolph (Anna) Johns of El Paso, Texas, Truman Chester (Pam) Johns of Augusta, Georgia, Tommie and Bobby Pendleton of Whatley, Alabama, Levan (Diana) of Indian Ridge, Alabama. Special nephews: Tyrone Pendleton of Toledo, Ohio and Trevis Johns of Whatley, Alabama. Special cousin Barbara Ann Pendleton. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Friends: Tracy Hall and Ann Pugh.
